What Should Be Considered While Preparing for IVF Treatment?

It is very important that the expectant mother, who is at the center of IVF treatment, is mentally and physically ready for treatment. Candidates who are under pressure or ignore the precautions to be taken have a lower chance of having a child.

Things to Consider for Mother and Father-to-be

  • Smoking and alcohol should not be used at least 2 months before starting IVF treatment.
  • Caffeine consumption should be limited. Especially cola, tea and chocolate should be reduced, coffee consumption should not exceed two cups a day.
  • Folic acid, which is responsible for the healthy development of the baby’s spinal cord and brain structure, should be started at least 1.5 and a half months ago.
  • Before starting treatment, blood tests should be done. In particular, blood count should be done, thyroid hormones should be checked, and whether the body is immune to rubella virus should be investigated.
  • Tests for the jaundice virus should be done.
  • If there is a family history of diabetes, fasting blood sugar should be checked.
  • If a smear test has not been performed in the last six months, it should be done before starting the treatment.
  • If the pet is being fed, tests for toxoplasma microbe should be done.
  • Before the treatment, the vitamin D level in the body should be checked and if it is missing, it should be supplemented.
  • If there are health problems such as stomach discomfort or heart valve problem, they should be checked before treatment.
  • If psychiatric drugs are used, the patient should definitely consult his doctor, as they will need to be discontinued before treatment.
  • Melatonin is produced during sleep at night. For a quality sleep, between 22:00 at night and 07:00 in the morning are ideal times. Since a healthy sleep will be possible in ideal hours in a dark environment, melatonin secretion will also be at the highest level. Therefore, attention should be paid to the sleep pattern.
