Micro TESE

Men who have no sperm in their semen, on the other hand, may have sperm production in the testicles. The only way to understand whether there is sperm production in the testicles is to take a tissue sample from the testicles. Micro TESE is a special surgical method applied to the testicles.

How is it applied?

In this method, in which a special surgical microscope is used, small tissue samples are taken from the areas of the testicles that are most likely to contain sperm.

In the testicles, sperm are produced inside filamentous structures called tubules. Tubules with sperm production appear more swollen than others. It is not possible to distinguish these plump tubules with the naked eye. For this reason, a special microscope is used to enlarge the testicular tissue. The plump tubules selected under the microscope are taken with special fine tweezers and broken into pieces in the IVF laboratory, and it is checked whether there is sperm in them.

What is the process after the operation?

Micro TESE is a one-day procedure and does not require hospitalization. The risk of infection is lower than conventional biopsy. It does not cause deterioration in sexual functions after the procedure. It causes very little tissue loss in the testicles. If the number of sperm obtained by biopsy is high; unused sperm can be frozen and stored for reuse when needed.
